Picture a region of stunning pink and grey snow-capped mountains, clear streams, fragrant meadows, densely forested hillsides, shimmering lakes, pretty wooden chalets and iconic onion-shaped church spires.
Then add genuine hospitality, mouthwatering cuisine, excellent local wines and a fascinating history, and you have the unmistakable hallmarks of the Tyrol region of western Austria and northern Italy. We stay in the charming alpine village of Seefeld, a perfect spot from which to explore the countless highlights of this mountainous province, bisected by the twisting River Inn.
We discover the culture, imperial history and architectural delights of the region’s capital, Innsbruck, marvel at Germany’s highest mountain, the Zugspitze, and the towering turrets of the fairy-tale castle of Neuschwanstein. It’s clear that there’s so much more to the Austrian Tyrol than first meets the eye. The phenomenally beautiful alpine scenery will naturally leave you spellbound. Nature at its most awe-inspiring, history at its most stimulating and a fascinating blend of cultures all combine to ensure that the Tyrol region is guaranteed to capture your imagination.
