We start today on the Battlefields of Flanders seeing Tyne Cot Cemetery, the largest British Cemetery in the world. We then travel to Hill 60 to look at an area of preserved battlefield, seeing bunkers and mine craters, and then visit Hooge Crater for our lunch, with a chance to see the superb museum. This afternoon we head to Ypres and enjoy free time. In the evening, we attend the moving Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate.

Today we go into northern France and visit the Indian Corps Memorial at Neuve-Chapelle, which commemorates over 4,500 Indian Army soldiers with no known grave. We then look at the Battle of Fromelles seeing the Australian Memorial Park, Pheasant Wood Cemetery made after the recovery of a mass grave here many decades after WW1 and VC Corner Cemetery. We then travel into Lille, where we spend time browsing the stalls of one of France’s largest Christmas Markets.

Today we travel down to the Somme and visit the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing, which commemorates over 72,000 soldiers who have no known grave. We then see an area of preserved battlefield at the Newfoundland Park at Beaumont Hamel and visit the huge Serre Road No 2 Cemetery, the largest on the Somme. From here we travel to Arras for the Christmas Market.
